FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS

Today's teens and young adults have countless academic and career options available to them.  Navigating this exploration and decision making process can be fun and, at times, overwhelming.  Both students and parents want assurance that the choices made are effective ones...especially given the high cost of a college education should this be a goal. From my work as a college level career development center director, I know the value in considering personal preferences and market place realities when making college major and career decisions.  If college is not part of the student's game plan, we can explore preferences, priorities and career objectives to provide direction and guidance.

To support teens and young adults with college major and/or career concerns, I offer the following choices…

1.  For students who are deciding on a college major and career direction, I recommend starting with my interactive DVD program, In Search of a College Major and Career Direction. Click here to learn more.

2.  One on one in person career counseling/coaching:  For teens or young adults who are trying to decide on a college major and/or career direction, I offer a special five session program (Note: this program is also appropriate for those who are not planning to go to college or who are uncertain about whether or not to go to college.) In this special program, the primary goal is to support my clients in considering the following questions:

·   What do I like? (interests)
·

What can I do? (skills)
·

What are my strengths and preferences? (personality)
·

What's important to me? (values)
·

What are my options? (Career and Academic Possibilities)

Program participants will identify academic and career options that are personally relevant.  They will also learn how to explore career fields of interest and their entrance requirements.  Program activities consist of five one hour sessions spread out over several weeks.  This Program includes administration of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a card sort based skills assessment and elements of my DVD program, In Search of a College Major & Career Direction (the DVD  is viewed as part of the program although there is an extra fee if the client wishes to own the DVD program).  The cost for this five session program is $440.00 and includes the cost of career assessments and related activities.
