Helpful career links This list includes links that I refer my clients to on a regular basis.
Career Information Here are some of my favorite sites for career information.
www.acinet.org
www.bls.gov/oco
www.online.onetcenter.org
www.wetfeet.com www.jobhuntersbible.com www.careerjournal.com Industry Information I dreamed up the Industry Preference Exercise below back when I worked as the Career Center Director at Rivier College. My colleagues took this activity one step further by providing links to websites that let you explore industries of interest online. Excellent resource…although I am admittedly biased!
www.rivier.edu/cardev/Default.aspx?ID=5134.htm Job Sites Here are some popular job sites. The Internet can be a great resource for job postings and job search related information. I would not, however, rely solely on the Internet when conducting a job search. It’s just one more resource to add to your job search tool bag.
www.careerbuilder.com www.monster.com www.ajb.org www.RileyGuide.com Salary Information These resources will help get you started with salary related research efforts. www.jobstar.org/tools/salary www.salary.com www.salaryexpert.com For Students www.roadtripnation.com Road Trip Nation is about students supporting students with the career exploration and networking process. This site engages teens and young adults while educating them about career possibilities. Videos of interviews with successful people from all walks of life is one key feature of this site. You may have seen Road Trip Nation documentaries on PBS. www.princetonreview.com/college/research/majors/majorSearch.asp Find and research a comprehensive list of college majors. www.nhheaf.org The New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation provides NH students and families with resources to plan and pay for college. Personality Type/Temperament www.personalitypage.com This website offers accurate profiles of each of the 16 personality types. It also has information about type and careers, relationships, kids, etc. www.keirsey.com While I would not encourage anyone to pay to take Keirsey’s assessment on-line, I do refer clients to Please Understand Me I and II (book and video) on a regular basis. Keirsey’s work is a wonderful complement to Jungian models of personality type…including work with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Self Employment I personally took advantage of these resources when learning about how to start and develop my practice, OPTIONS. You can make some great connections through these organizations and gain valuable business development and management skills with little or no financial investment. While there are plenty of other self-employment resources out there, these links offer you a starting place.

Use these links to get you started. www.ipl.org/div/aon www.dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Organizations/Professional/ |
